Entrepreneurial Behavoir
Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship (BS Entrep)

This course provides a comprehensive roadmap for transforming abstract ideas into validated, scalable ventures by bridging the gap between entrepreneurial psychology and practical execution. It begins by establishing a foundation in Entrepreneurial Behavior, defining the field as the creation of value and exploring the psychological traits; such as resilience, vision, and the use of decision-making heuristics; that characterize successful founders like Sam Walton. As students move through the initial stages of innovation and triggering events, the scope expands to include Opportunity Recognition, where students learn to distinguish raw ideas from viable economic opportunities through environmental scanning tools like the PESTEL Model.

The course then shifts into the planning and implementation phases, emphasizing modern, agile frameworks over traditional, static business plans. Students are introduced to the role of Effectuation, which encourages starting with available means; who you are, what you know, and whom you know; rather than just fixed goals. This is complemented by the Business Model Canvas (BMC), a visual strategic tool that allows entrepreneurs to map out their entire business logic, from value propositions to revenue streams, on a single page. By utilizing the Lean Startup methodology, the course teaches students to hire for adaptability and to prioritize customer feedback over top-down dictates.

A critical component of the curriculum is the transition from Assumptions to Knowledge through rigorous validation. Students learn to navigate the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) process, utilizing a "Build-Measure-Learn" feedback loop to receive rapid user input and iterate on their products. This evidence-based approach is supported by a structured process for identifying customer needs, which involves gathering raw data through interviews and observations and translating them into specific customer requirements. By focusing on Value Creation and a "Customer-First Strategy," the course ensures that every decision is considered according to its impact on the customer experience.

Finally, the course addresses the broader impact of entrepreneurship through the lens of Social Entrepreneurship. It explores how novel applications can solve community-based problems, such as environmental protection or women's empowerment, measuring success through Social Return on Investment (SROI) rather than just financial profit. This focus on both economic and social value is highly relevant to the modern professional landscape, as it equips students with a toolkit of industry-standard methodologies; such as the BMC and Lean Startup—while fostering the resilience and adaptability needed to navigate the uncertainty of the business life cycle.
